I have a lot of pieces similar to this in a couple small boxes that look like costume jewelry that belonged to my grandma. In her case I doubt anything would be anything more than costume but I love looking at them. Some are so pretty.

How do you memorialize the artifacts? I’ve been trying to capture a decent photo and document a little history about the items. Hopefully someone in the future will find the info interesting and helpful!

Right now all of my grandma's jewelry is in a box. I've not taken photos of any of it yet or written about it. I have all boys so I'm not even sure they would keep anything if I die. My niece though might want my stuff.

That makes total sense. Have you worn it? If not, you should try to work it into an outfit sometime.

I've had this in my possession for a long time, probably since Great-Grandma died in 1983 and many of her possessions were distributed. I also have an embroidered monogram handkerchief and all of the very old photographs that were part of her collection.

Did you have this appraised? How do you know the pearls are faux? I love that you have this. It fits so well with your interest in your ancestors. I hope you can pinpoint the date.

I have not had it appraised. I have made the assumption they are faux pearls based on appearance, but maybe I'm wrong!? Google image searches return similar looking items, all dating to the 1950s and costume jewelry was the rage at that time, so that's part of my thought-process. But that doesn't mean "real" jewelry wasn't been made, right? Either way, it's priceless to me.
