I can only imagine how frightened they must have been. Yay for your dad for taking that non-union job. Obviously it was meant to be. He did what was right for his family.

I loved this story. I remember Deluxe from years ago when I was a banker. It commanded most, if not all, of the check printing market. I had no idea there was s major earthquake in LA in 1971!

Thanks! And yes, Deluxe was quite the market-owner in its day! Too bad they didn't evolve as printed check needs changed.
